HOW IT STARTED…
A friend of mine brought me a vintage uniform jacket from LA with a logo patch from a major U.S. Air Conditioning company. It had also this classic mechano style that just screamed timeless elegance.
I fell head over heels for the jacket and started wearing it like a second skin. People would smile at me on the streets, and some even stopped to ask where they could find a jacket like mine. It was crazy how much attention it attracted!
I loved it so much that it motivated me to remake it, a dupe of this jacket with some changes in the cut and collar. I named the brand Robbyn.
I decided to enhance it by adding a logo patch that mimics various professions with cool designs. Whether it's for an Air-Conditioning Heating company or a Scaffolding company, the person wearing it would embrace the concept with pride.
I reached out to an atelier in North London for the production. It's a family business that has been thriving for four generations. Since day one, they've been supporting me, and I genuinely value their craftsmanship.
The fabric is a a wonderful brushed cotton twill with a water resistant made in Manchester. Despite my intention not to label it as a luxury item, the combination of this exceptional fabric and meticulous craftsmanship makes it to a true luxury piece.
COLLABORATION
It's fun to play pretend as a scaffolding company, but it's even more thrilling to be able to produce for a real company, who needs a uniform...and keen to sell it to individuals. That's exactly what happened with The Steamroom, a dry cleaner located in East London, highly regarded in the local community.
A collaboration with IDEA.LTD in 2022 made it possible to sell Robbyn in Dover Street Market all.around.the.world (LONDON, NYC, LA, TOKYO). We made the logo with a plant Patch to match the cap.
