THIS IS THE STORY OF A JACKET...

...Found in a vintage store in LA.

The jacket was a 90s uniform from a major U.S cleaning company. The usual kind. The kind of uniform that defined your social status back then, and meant yo uare part of a whole, even though you might be at the bottom.

Fast forward NYC, 2018. A fancy party somewhere in Tribeca, full of trendy people drinking expensive cocktails. I am wearing the jacket.

First comment: 'I love your jacket - is that true workwear?

A second: 'Wow this is cool. What designer is that?'

One last: 'Is that your startup uniform?'

The following day I get people stopping me in the street to ask where I got it from.

At a movie night, It gets more attention than the movie istelf.

BACK IN LONDON

I started to look around for a maker. I have been advised to produce in Portugal, but by chance got the name of an atelier in North London. I decided to meet the owner at his workshop located in a rather unloved area of North London at 8am on a rainy Monday.

When I got there, I understood the recommendation. There were beautiful pieces and garments throughout the workshop. All made for small and prestigious UK fashion brands. His family has been in the business for 4 generations.

THE DESIGN

My original vintage jacket was a good start but needed some fine tunning. I called a great pattern designer and together we developed the design: dropped shoulders, elasticated waist, relaxed fit, reworked the collar, respicify the zip, pocket for pens...Then she worked her magic to cut and draw the pattern.

THE FABRIC

I visited shops, trades, fairs & events. I eventually met the iconic British Millerain Co at a fair in Paris. They have been manufacturing textiles in the UK for over a century and they are most well known for their wash cotton.
Our jacket is a wonderful brushed cotton twill with a water resistant.

THE AIR CONDITIONING-HEATING LOGO

Then came the logo. The one that turns this jacket into a statement piece. I caught up with the artist Tristan Barroso. A week later he came up with 10 artworks. For the first edition, we decided to go for Air-conditioning Heating, with a cool 90s inspired design.

We believe that the logo speaks for craftsmanship & skills that are crucial to one's sense of identity and belonging.
